Local Garden Visits

This week I had the pleasure of visiting two local gardens – it’s great to see the growth and share tips of the trade!

First stop was the Swan Farm Pea Patch, a community garden located behind the OlyCAP thrift store in Port Hadlock. This garden has personal “adopted” patches as well as a large area dedicated to growing food to donate to food banks.

Thanks to Joe and Beth for showing us around!

Email Joe at  [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering at this location!

Next up, we visited a community garden in Quilcene. Twin sisters, Anita and Juanita, have fostered this project into a beautiful garden! There are demonstration gardens as well as weekly gardening lessons every week. This location is also host to an espresso stop! Extra harvest is taken to the nearby food bank.

If you are interested in volunteering at this garden or taking part in a lesson, stop by the garden on Mondays at noon, located next to the Quilcene Community Center on Hwy 101.

If you are in the Port Townsend area and want to learn more about growing your own food, email [email protected] to find the nearest location!
